MISSION

  • To tap the Alumni for community and education based services.
  • To provide for organized assistance to the University of the Philippines.
  • To assist prospective members who are in California to adjust to their new environment.
Officers

The University of the Philippines Alumni Association of San Francisco, Inc. (UPAASF) was organized in July 1973 in Daly City, California. It was originally meant to be the conduit for organized activity of the Alumni in the San Francisco Bay Area. The Association has raised funds for 3 professorial chairs, the repair of the Carillon bells and retooled the Diliman Infirmary. It has hosted visiting UP professors and officials and sponsored several events, among them the 2007 UPAAA Centennial Convention.

The Association has since then reengineered itself and has taken on several community based activities among them; a) support of Westbay Pilipino Multi-Service Center for its S&T Mentoring Program b) for the past 2 years, we have conducted a Summer Cultural Immersion Camp for middle and high school FilAm students; the hope is that this would lead to the establishment of a Philippine Heritage and Leadership Learning Institute that aims to connect the Fil-Am youth with their heritage c) with what happened with typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan), we are working with the Filipino American Society of Architect & Engineers (FASAE) in providing ideas and best practice seminars for site-specific disaster planning.
